Open Question: Was this girl totally clueless or am I just getting too old?

I was at the barber shop and Pearl Jam's song Jeremy started playing. Just to make conversation, I turned to the girl cutting my hair and I went like: "Do you think Jeremy shot himself or the other kids in that class?" She stares at me blankly and asks "Who's Jeremy" I told her about the Pearl Jam song, which was playing right then and there and she still didn't get it. WTF?!?! I thought Jeremy was a pretty BFD.
